New Hip Stem From Stryker

Stryker (NYSE: SYK) today announced the launch of the Insignia Hip Strain for total hip and hemiarthroplasty.

Stryker, unveiled at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) 2022 in Chicago, introduced the Insignia hip shaft to optimize patient waists and easily implant surgeon muscle control techniques for general hip and hemiarthroplasty procedures.

Insignia is compatible with the Stryker Mako SmartRobotics platform with Total Hip 4.1 software, which allows surgeons to use data from 3D CT-based plans to capture each patient's unique anatomy, the press release said.

The platform features a Tri-Stage brooch with three different tooth geometries, with unique size-specific collar lengths and a range of femoral offsets for better fit and function. The Insignia also has a low-profile soldier, short stature, and distal relief that facilitates lateralization and deployment in muscle-conserving approaches such as the straight front. Stryker said Insignia is adding advanced digital healthcare, including expanding the capabilities of the Mako robotic surgery platform.

"We are excited to now be able to offer surgeons a collar, fully HA-coated hip strain, designed for muscle-sparing approaches such as the straight anterior," Stryker Vice President and General Manager of the Hip Katherine Truppi said in a report. "Insignia joins the Stryker family of leading hip protectors on the market and complements our core hip portfolio. In line with Mako SmartRobotics, Insignia provides patient adaptability, functionality and flexibility, allowing surgeons to improve patient outcomes.
